| Hello boys & girls. Thanks for your interest.
My interest in playing drums started when I was but a wee lad. I was watching the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show with my grandmother and was showing her how I imitated Ringo. After she convinced my parents to buy drums for me, the rest is history. Over the years, I've had the pleasure of playing in many different bands. My first paying gig was when I was 15 at a bar in New Canaan called the Heritage. In my late teens and well into my 20's I played with a band made up of a group of very talented musicians from Darien and Rowayton. We named the band "Noyes & The Boyes". We played mostly original material that would best be categorized as "acoustic rock". After that, I formed what would be the predecessor to "Tastes Like Chicken". We named that band "Straight Up". Some photographs of "Straight Up" can be found on the photo galleries pages here on this website. "Straight Up" was primarily a cover band fronted by a female vocalist. We went through a number of bass players until Steve came along. After "Straight Up" had run its course, Steve, Dick and I spun off "Tastes Like Chicken". Gus joined a few years later to lend a second guitar "voice" and, eventually, Dick moved away and again we were three. As noted above, Ringo was a big influence in my early years of drumming. There have been many others too particularly the fusion drummers of the mid-70's and early 80's. Dave Weckl, almost any of the drummers in Frank Zappa's bands, Lenny White, Billy Cobham. Of course there are the old greats too...Gene Krupa, Louie Bellson, Buddy Rich. I like to dabble with the guitar and piano too. I'll sing from time to time as well but have always found it a little difficult to sing and play drums as I'm no Phil Collins or Don Henley. The drum kit I play at home is Pearl with Zildjian cymbals and my road kit is a Tama also with Zildjian cymbals. Both kits are fitted with Remo Pin-Stripe heads on top and Ambassadors on the bottom. I use a variety of Pro-Mark sticks. Those of you who know me already know that in my "off" time, I'm skiing in the winter and riding my motorcycles in the summer. Well, that's enough about me. Now its time for you to click on our guest book page and tell us something about you! |
